|

|
To produce an accurate and legible record of the content of lectures, seminars etc in the Client’s preferred style and format.

Completed at least 1 year of higher education study.

Text Checker
|
To identify and highlight errors in written work, and indicate where modifications may be required in relation to spelling, punctuation and grammar, but not academic content, in circumstances where the Client’s use of assistive technology is not appropriate.

Reader
|
To read relevant course related material to the Client or onto appropriate recording devices as required.

|
Specialist Assistant
|
A flexible role where a Client requires a range of support types consecutively for irregular periods of time.
The Specialist Assistant may be involved in:
Providing assistance with practical and mobility support tasks in educational situations and locations.
Note taking pertinent information as required by the Client.
Directing the Client towards guidance and information, and encouraging adjustment to academic study and routine.

Level Three
|
|
Exam Facilitator
|
To read aloud relevant exam material to the Client, and/or to scribe, writing word for word, the Client’s answers to exam questions.

Experience of examination at higher education level.
Clear reading voice.
Accurate spelling and grammar skills.
Relevant and accurate IT skills.

|
Practical Facilitator
|
To provide assistance with mobility and/or practical tasks in educational situations and locations using prior knowledge, skills and experience where specifically required e.g. in a laboratory, technical studio/suite, workshop.

Degree or equivalent.
Prior higher education experience and knowledge of the subject and/or situation
|
|
Research Facilitator
|
To search and select relevant information from an agreed subject matter from a variety of academic sources and materials (books, journals, electronic resources) and present to the Client in the requested format, using an understanding of the topic and relevant ICT skills.

Study Facilitator
|
To act as a motivator to the Client, encouraging them to adjust to academic study and routine, through organisational support and reassurance.
To act as a key contact for the Client and provide the Client with guidance and information in relation to the services delivered by, and the connection between, academic studies and/or general university services and/or specialist support services.

Transcription Facilitator
|
To transcribe from one format (including lecture and seminar notes, oral dictation or audio files) into another agreed format, producing an accurate, full and legible record in the Client’s preferred style and format.

Standard of education to at least 2nd year degree level .
A recognised qualification may be required for certain roles.
Excellent ICT skills.

|
|
Specialist Communication Facilitator
|
To deliver specialist support, remotely or one-to-one, where knowledge of a particular communication/support technique is required, for example
- Braille Specialist
- Electronic Note taker
- BSL Communicator
- Lip Speaker

Degree or equivalent.
Relevant specialist qualification (e.g. Braille specialist, Electronic Note Taker).

Specialist Study Facilitator
|
To facilitate the application of study strategies and provide organisational and motivational support, assisting the Client to adjust to academic routine, through instructing, prompting and directing the Client to carry out tasks and reviewing progress.

|

Study Coach
|
Study Coach- Specific Learning Difference
Using specialist knowledge of Specific Learning Differences, to deliver one to one skills coaching focusing on the individual’s evolving academic requirements.

Degree or equivalent.
Full Teaching Certificate or equivalent.
Certificate in Teaching People with Specific Learning Difficulties.

Study Coach – Specific Condition or Impairment
Using specific knowledge of the Client’s condition or impairment, to deliver one to one skills coaching focusing on the individual’s evolving academic requirements.
|
Degree or equivalent.
Full Teaching Certificate or equivalent.
Relevant postgraduate qualification in a specific disability related area.

|
Study Coach – Subject Specific
Using specific knowledge of the Client’s academic subject, to deliver one to one subject specific skills support where additional input is required because of the impact of the Client’s condition or impairment on the academic experience.

Degree or equivalent.
Full Teaching Certificate or equivalent.
Relevant postgraduate qualification in a specific area.
|
|
Assistive Technology Coach
|
To deliver one-to-one training in the use of specialist disability assistive technology hardware and/or software to the Client.
|
Qualified to degree level or equivalent.
Have knowledge and experience of Assistive Technology.
Hold an IT related qualification.
Knowledge and/or experience of teaching/training people with Specific Learning Differences and/or disabilities.
Understanding of the implications of Specific Learning Differences, specific impairments or conditions in relation to Higher Education studies.

Mobility Coach
|
To use specialist skills and techniques to coach a sight impaired person in the learning of routes within particular environments.
|
Degree or equivalent.
Relevant specialist qualification (e.g. Mobility Trainer).
