Clear Links Support is recruiting Study Mentors to support learners studying at Nacro Education Centres across the country.

The role:
You will be working with learners to support them in recognising their barriers to learning and to provide strategies to develop their skills to manage the impact of their condition impairment or circumstance on their learning experience. This may include developing strategies to manage anxiety, build confidence, to develop concentration skills, time management skills, to prioritise workloads and to create schedules of work-life balance.
Learners may also require support in developing skills in acquiring, recalling, and retaining information in written and spoken language, and strategies to develop memory, organisation, attention and numeracy skills.

Applicants must be available to provide on site support for one day per week at one of the following Nacro locations: Middlesborough, Stoke-on-Trent, Chatham, Peterborough
Required qualifications and experience:
Successful applicants must have a degree and at least one of the following:
A teaching qualification A relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. in a subject such as education, disability awareness, inclusive practice, mental health) Relevant professional experience (e.g. in areas such as learning support, counselling, coaching, social work, specialist teaching) Membership of a relevant professional body such as BACP, HCPC, NCCPS, SWE, UMHAN, PATOSS, PASSHE, BDA, Dyslexia Guild.The above lists are not exhaustive. It is desirable that applicants have experience in a similar role within the last five years. Applicants should also have an understanding of the impact of disabilities in the education context.
By the start of employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996. This post is also subject to satisfactory references, a DBS check, as well as other applicable pre-employment checks.
