We wanted to provide an academically focused AI tool to help students harness the power of AI, whilst supporting study skills sessions. Study Buddy upholds academic integrity and facilitates a space where students can build on the work they do in their study skills sessions.

Study Buddy was developed with input from students, support workers and universities through focus groups and feedback about university and academic life - as AI takes an increasing place in learning.
Use cases
Study Buddy offers pointers, reminders, and guidance without doing the work for students. It is designed to stimulate student learning and support them when they work on academic assignments.
What Study Buddy can help with

In order to protect the integrity of your academic work, Study Buddy won't:
- Proofread or amend work
- Start, write or draft anything for a student
- Provide references
Support between sessions - focused on specific needs
Study Buddy isn't a replacement for study skills sessions. It's designed to offer access to personalised specialist support between sessions.
The nature of academic life means students may need support at times when booking a support session is not possible. They may also need a quick reminder of the strategies they have developed with their support workers, or just a knowledgeable nudge toward the right track - without the need for a full-hour support session.
This is available at no additional cost to the university or the student, for the duration of a student's support with Clear Links, and it's entirely optional. It's a secure AI resource that upholds academic integrity, set apart from generic AI tools, for students in Higher Education.
Data and safeguarding
Using Study Buddy is safe and chat content is not accessible by the university. The Clear Links team monitors usage to improve the service and for safeguarding purposes, in the same way we supervise and review Non-Medical Help support.

Will this get a student flagged for cheating?
Study Buddy won't proofread, draft or reference work; it supports a student's own process rather than doing it for them.
Who sees student data?
Universities don't see individual usage. The Clear Links team looks at usage to improve the service and for safeguarding, the same way it does across all Clear Links support.
Does this replace study skills sessions?
No. Sessions stay exactly as they are. Study Buddy is there for the time in between.
